Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Earth Day? Each year on April 22nd, we observe this holiday. It started in 1970 and is known as the birth of the modern environmental movement. So why is it important to you?

As we look at our past, it’s easy to say that the environment was not a common concern. Industries were pouring chemicals and smoke into the air with little to no concern for the environment and how it affects the people and things around it. After the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, Gaylord Nelson, a US senator for Wisconsin, organized a nationwide demonstration against the pollution and the deterioration of the environment. The protest was held on April 22, 1970. Approximately 20 million Americans joined the demonstration in support of a healthier and more sustainable treatment of the environment. And we have been celebrating Earth Day every year since.

Earth Day is a nice reminder to look at what we are doing to promote a sustainable, healthier Earth. It reminds us to recycle, buy Earth friendly products (like our customized notepads made from recycled paper), and how we can help better our planet.

At Captain Notepad we celebrate Earth Day each year with a promotion to get our customers thinking about buying Earth friendly products.
