Designing for a Small Sheet
On a memo pad, less is more. A logo at the top or bottom, a phone number or website, and open space usually works better than a full page of graphics. If you want color to run to the edge, choose Artwork Bleed; otherwise there's a 1/8" unprinted margin around the sheet. Back-side printing is available for a second message or a coupon, on 60 lb. paper or heavier.

Memo pad sizes vary more than most people expect. The 3" x 4" sits in the middle of the small range: bigger than a mini notepad, smaller than an index-card pad. If your logo is wide, the landscape 4″ × 3″ may suit it better. If people need to write lists, look at the 3″ × 6″.

What sizes do memo pads come in?
Memo pads are the small end of the notepad range, usually somewhere between 2″ × 3″ and about 4″ × 6″. We print several in that range, including 2″ × 3″, 3″ × 3″, 3″ × 4″, 3.5″ × 4.25″ and 4″ × 4″. See all 34 standard notepad sizes.
Which small pad is best for daily use?
For notes you write every day, such as phone messages, reminders and quick lists, a 3″ × 4″ pad is a good balance: small enough to keep by the keyboard or in a pocket, big enough for four or five lines of handwriting.
How big is a 3 x 4 notepad in real life?
Each sheet is 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall, about the size of a small sticky note stretched an inch taller. With 25 sheets the pad is thin; with 50 it's a little thicker but still pocket-friendly.
Is a 4 x 3 notepad the same as a 3 x 4?
Same sheet, turned sideways. This 3″ × 4″ pad is portrait (taller than wide). Our 4″ × 3″ notepad is the landscape version, which suits wide logos and one-line messages.
Should I get a 3 x 4, 3 x 5 or 3 x 6 notepad?
Do you make tiny memo pads?
Yes. Our smallest is the 2″ × 3″ mini notepad, followed by the 3″ × 3″ square. The 3″ × 4″ is one step up, with noticeably more writing room.
